CLIC Storyteller Alexa recently met with Mia, a participant in the Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union Community Leaders Igniting Change (CLIC) program. Mia was asked “What have you learned in CLIC that is helping you grow as a leader?”
“I am always striving to grow and I want to build on my confidence in being a change maker that leads from the heart. I joined CLIC to learn effective leadership skills in bringing community stakeholders together for projects big and small, and how to connect a divided community.
I can honestly say after taking CLIC that I am a value-based leader and that I will be truthful, compassionate and that I will strive to show true care and will come to the table without bias. I learned to welcome confusion, conflict and chaos that may arise in leading adaptive change. I learned that reacting from emotion tends to make us one dimensional. We need to change in ourselves, so the change we’d like to see in our community actually happens.”
Envision Financial Community Leaders Igniting Change (CLIC) is a grass-roots program helping local community members build upon their leadership skills and confidence as change-makers. The program teaches participants how to navigate complicated challenges they are facing in their organizations, communities and/or personal lives. Learn more about CLIC here http://bitly.ws/oPIZ
