Jenny Agar, Thanks for Doing Some Good!

What inspires you to volunteer?

I grew up in a small town with a strong sense of community, which I believe is why I am so passionate about volunteering. I enjoy making a positive difference in the community in which I live in. I am so proud to work for a company that aligns their values with the values in which I try to live by every day.

Which cause(s) are you most passionate about and why?

I am very passionate about the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, United Way Central & South Okanagan/Similkameen, TERRY FOX RUN KELOWNA, and various other events that Prospera Credit Union sponsors or volunteers with. I have friends that have had to stay at the BC Children's Hospital and the difference that the donations make are what allow the hospital to do what they do. I have always been passionate about supporting causes that help or give back to children.

What impact have you seen the organization(s) you work with, and their volunteers, make in the community?

One event that was created by Prospera staff Angela Burnell that I believe makes an impact is Bats For A Cause. This softball tournament inspires sponsorship and community participation that helps make our community a better place and the event has gotten bigger every year. The fundraising we do for this event goes to the BC Children's hospital. Last year I believe we raised over $80,000.00!

What support is needed by the organization(s) and how can people learn more or get involved?

Volunteer time is always needed by organizations in your community and I have found Volinspire to be a wonderful platform to get involved and learn more.

Is there a person, organization or caring company (e.g. employer) you would like to recognize that has helped support you to make a difference?

I am forever grateful to work for Prospera Credit Union.
