Morning Volunteer
Assist with providing breakfast to 35 shelter guests.Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity in Kelowna? Are you a morning person? We are looking for caring, compassionate people like you to volunteer! Inn From The Cold – Kelowna is looking for volunteers in our 35-bed emergency winter shelter which operates from November to April. One volunteer opportunity in the shelter is the morning shift that is from 6am until 8:30am (if you a required to leave a bit early for work that can usually be accommodated) and there are 2 shifts available per morning. Shift duties include:
- Interact with our guests
- Helping staff wake up guest beginning around 6:15am
- Assisting with guest requests
- Help staff and volunteer with breakfast set up, serving, and clean up
- Help clean the sleeping hall, kitchen, bathrooms, and stairs.
- Assist with linen collection
- Assist with tidying blankets and striping beds for those guests who left early for work
Throughout the season we offer a variety of different training opportunities for our volunteers at no-charge or at a discounted price (to cover cost of materials). Training opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Working with Vulnerable Populations
- Harm Reduction Workshop
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Food Safe
- Problem Gambling

This volunteer position has no scheduling requirements attached to it. You can work out your availability and time commitment directly with the organizer.
