The BCSS Kelowna branch currently runs five free programs in the areas of family support, personal recovery, and youth well-being that rely on facilitators. Facilitating these programs can seem daunting, but you are never alone and all programs are pre-designed. As a new facilitator, you will receive hands-on training from existing team members and will graduate into your role. Programs on average last 6 weeks (1 evening per week for 1-2 hours), and we ask that you can are available for a minimum of 5 weeks for consistency. Responsibilities include preparing with your co-facilitator, contacting program referrals, learning class material, leading group discussion, safely handling story-telling, and writing an end-of-program report for the branch. This position is well suited for individuals who have stellar leadership skills, an aptitude for communication, and who can create a compassionate and non-judgemental space. Depending on the program, lived experience and/or a background in psychology will be required.
