Board of Director - Finance experience in Non-Profit

Board of Directors

The BOARD for the CENTRAL OKANAGAN ELIZABETH FRY SOCIETY governs with an emphasis on:
1. Outward vision rather than internal preoccupation;
2. Encouraging all to express their views;
3. Strategic leadership more than administrative detail;
4. Clear distinction of Board Member and Executive Director roles;
5. Collective decision making;
6. A view towards the future rather than the past or present; and
7. Proactivity rather than reactivity
The Role of the Board is to:
• Establish the organization’s purpose/mission.
• Provide continuity for the management and implementation of the organization’s affairs by ensuring that adequate financial and human resources are in place.
• Set the rate of progress at which the organization takes on activities, programs and services to fulfill its mission.
• Secure community support and appreciation for the organization’s objectives, beliefs, vision, mission and long term direction.
• Develop and operate from a strategic plan for a specified periods of time (2-5 year plan).
• Recruit Board Members to renew the membership.

This volunteer position has no scheduling requirements attached to it. You can work out your availability and time commitment directly with the organizer.
